After run the ESXi customizer, open the extracted folder named ESXi Customizer and then run ESXi Customizer.cmd.ģ.
First i installed the ESXi Customizer.exe to extract the data into the folder, you can see the screenshot below:Ģ.In my case, i downloaded the following VIB file to add to the vmware ESXi 6.0 ISO. Rufus is a utility that helps format and create bootable USB flash drives, such as USB keys/pendrives, memory sticks. Create a folder to save all components that we will use, such as the ESXi, rufus, ESXi Customizer and VIB files.Download the VIBs files and save them in the same folder with the ESXI 6.0 and the ESXi Customizer.Download rufus to make you USB bootable.Download the ESXI Customizer, in my case I downloaded version 2.7.2.
With VIBs we can install in almost 20 min the new version of ESXi, I’m gonna detail step by step on how to solve this issue.
Unlike other scripts and manuals that are available for this purpose ESXi-Customizer runs entirely on Windows and does not require any knowledge of or access to Linux. If we look under the covers we will find that a VIB is comprised of three parts:ĮSXi-Customizer is a user-friendly script that automates the process of customizing the ESXi install-ISO with drivers that are not originally included. At a conceptual level a VIB is somewhat similar to a tarball or ZIP archive in that it is a collection of files packaged into a single archive to facilitate distribution. VIB files stands for vSphere Installation Bundle. I’ve tried different things in my lab environment, I first installed ESXi 5.5 and then i tried to update to version 6.0, but I found that the network adapters were incompatible, so I started from scratch installing version 6.0 but I had to download VIBs files compatible with version 6.
It’s straightforward, but you need time and attention in order to do it correctly. The main question on this article is “How to add these drivers of those unsuppported NIC’s”? Unfortunately, many devices are not supported. VMware ESXi 6.0 has built-in support for a limited number of NIC’s – Network Interface Cards. When I tried to install vmware ESXi 6.0 in my HP Desktop, I found an error related to network adapters. VMwware ESXi 6.0 is built for server hardware, and therefore has a limited set of supported drivers, once you know which exact network adapter you have, check whether an appropriate driver is available and add it to your ESXi installation image.įor some available drivers as well as a tool to inject the driver into te installation image see.
